Can we book yet?  I lost out on Bournemouth because I want a single room; so want to get in as soon as I can!!

I aim to attend, as a room-sharer, but don't let this put anyone else off!

If you want to travel by train to this event, be aware that there aren’t any direct services to North station and only very limited tovSouthbdue to engineering works. Details on NationalRail web site.

To be more precise, according to plan, there will be no services to Blackpool North at all, direct or otherwise. There will be rail replacement buses between Blackpool North and Preston. Again, according to plan, there should be a normal service to Blackpool South, but that is, these days, a limited one at the best of times.

Personally, I plan to go on the Blackpool South line, but alight at Squires Gate station, and walk to Starr Gate not far away, where I will get a no 1 bus, which stops very near the front of the hotel. You can also get a tram there, which stops close to the hotel, but the old giffers' bus pass is only valid on the tram if you live in Blackpool!

The closest station to the hotel is actually Layton, which is one stop before Blackpool North.  That doesn't make much difference though if the whole line is going to be closed!!  I thought £107 return if you book now on Trainline from Bristol was certainly a better option than driving.  Will probably still do train and replacement bus though;  cars are a pain for parking and I hate driving anyway!

Like last year, I'll be travelling up from Essex, stopping overnight at my 2nd home in Pateley Bridge on the Thursday night, and being picked up on the Friday morning for the second leg,  We can accommodate 2 other people, picking them up anywhere en route.  Return will be on the Monday, with or without a stopover, depending on how people feel, although we have to go via Pateley Bridge to get my car.
