Cave dwelling is not what it used to be - especially in Andalusia!
Nowadays more people are attracted to the idea of escaping from the busier resort areas of the Costas. As well as a more peaceful environment; the cave houses (casas cuevas) have more to offer than ever before. This new troglodyte trend is by no means a move back to the Stone Age. The 21st century Andalusian cave house is surprisingly well equipped with all mod cons, so as modern day cave dwellers we have not regressed to being Neanderthal. As well as the necessary water, gas and electricity supplies, we have a good broadband connection, swimming pool, bar and barbecue area.
The Negratín reservoir, one of the most fascinating enclaves of the province, has the first naturist beach in the interior of Andalusia just 10 minutes away.
The house is just over an hour away from the cosmopolitan city of Granada, with it's famous Moorish architecture , bustling street bazaars and of course the incredible Alhambra.
The local towns here still maintain many of the traditions that have existed for centuries, and throughout the year there are many religious festivals and fiestas for everyone to enjoy.

Places to go, things to do, people to meet. Beautiful scenery, peaceful, perfect for nature lovers, adventurers and those looking to relax and re-charge.
In this region a tradition instigated following a visit from the King still exists, it is said that when he visited he was given a drink and a plate of food. The King decreed that this should be given to everyone, so with every beer you order you receive a free tapas! Expect this custom in almost every bar or restaurant you visit. It certainly makes for a cheap night out. Within 5 mins of each direction from Cueva Romana you will find traditional Spanish towns. Directly south is Cuevas del Campo with several bars/restaurants, our personal favourite there being Avenida. Here you can expect a warm welcome and good food from Hosts Mariested and Juanjo. Directly North you will find the larger town of Pozo Alcon, again with more bars and restaurants. At the Music Bar on the main thoroughfare you will find Eugenio and Jose, and most Saturdays they play great music. Further afield are many other beautiful Towns and villages.
