An Ipsos poll recently commissioned by British Naturism reveals that 14% (equating to 6.75 million adults) of people in the UK describe themselves as Naturists or Nudists. A similar poll conducted in 2011 confirmed the figure at 3.7 million (6%). The fact that Brits are increasingly opting to strip off doesn’t come as a surprise to British Naturism since it reinforces what the organisation already knows – that people of all ages are increasingly turning to healthy, body-positive, clothes-f

Today marks the start of Nudefest, our big summer week-long event which is as usual packed with masses of activities and entertainment. A few people are already on site, here in Somerset, and we expect hundreds to arrive later today. The team is ready to get them to their pitches so that everyone can get on with the serious business of enjoying themselves! It's particularly great for me on a personal level to see how this festival that I was at the helm of when it began in 2007, grow to suc

Valley Club in Harrogate were delighted to welcome a number of BN members to their recent BN Boules Taster Day. An abundance of cake helped fuel the players through a morning of tuition under the expert guidance of Nigel, the club’s Sports Secretary, before a closely fought singles tournament which saw Caroline crowned winner. Club members were delighted to have the opportunity to show off their extensive grounds and to welcome visitors to the event Visitor Nick Holland said "I ha

It’s always wonderful when we are able to promote new venues for skinny dipping and thanks to Elaine Nuttall and her (usually costumed) wild swimming group, 17 women and nine men had a fantastic time in the river Ribble in Lancashire. Some said initially that they wouldn’t swim naked but in the end, everyone joined in. Organiser Elaine told us: ‘Friday night was an absolute smash hit, from friends to strangers, from people who had never skinny dipped before to Naturists, we had them al

BN’s new Events Manager Mark reports on our a fantastic event - an adrenaline-rush filled weekend in the Splash Landings Hotel at Alton Towers, and this year we had something to celebrate - a landmark tenth year at this prestigious venue. For those who haven't been (and I hadn't until this one) Splash Landings is a hotel with waterpark that British Naturism take over for a weekend of clothes-free fun…and by fun, I mean fun! I had read about the event with envy and longed to go but always ha

Another year, another trip to the British Naturism Swim Gala! While my partner Dave competed and mingled with other swimmers, I spent the evening cheering him on and having some interesting chats. This was our second gala, and it was every bit as welcoming and fun as last year’s. The pool area was full of naked people of all ages – single people, couples and families. There was the same enthusiasm for the racers, the same loud clapping and cheering for those who came last. This year

Continuing our ‘Women in Naturism’ campaign, encouraging more women to discover the benefits of Naturism, we’re launching a new idea for 2018. Coming at the end of world-renowned social and sporting event Royal Ascot week, 24th June will see our own ‘Ladies Day’. It’s an opportunity for all of us to think about the women in our lives - friends, colleagues, neighbours - anyone in our social circle who we’d like to invite along. Events can take place anywhere, and we hope that clubs and swims

What were you doing back in 1964? Ok, so quite a few of you were yet to enter the world, and to some it will seem like only yesterday. I was just eight and the nearest I got to Naturism that year was laughing at those saucy McGill nudist colony postcards on a family holiday in Swanage. Oh, so close to Studland! If only I had known and been older! While the Searchers were serenading us in the number one spot with Don’t Throw Your Love Away, representatives from 50 of the 70 Naturis

It's all rather good here at Baskerville Hall! Over 200 Naturists enjoying beautiful surroundings including a terrific view of the Black Mountains. Day 1 kicked off with a meet and greet and 'Decades' music quiz and that frantic, euphoric dancing we alway witness at a BN event when a band takes to the stage, in this case, 'Boomin'', a three piece band from Wigan playing all the songs we know and love to dance to. The hotel is great - rather posh in an old-fashioned way, with sweeping

The weather is still behaving and plenty of Jamboree guests took the opportunity to soak up some rays yesterday and compete (though not very seriously) in some games in the grounds of Baskerville Hall, such as Kubb and archery. After an early fitness session many took the shuttle bus at various intervals and enjoyed canoeing on the river Wye which looked stunning in the sunshine, with kingfishers and cormorants in evidence. Our evening's entertainment was a 'Perfect Murder' provided by Mi

Another lovely day on the English/Welsh borders, both in terms to the weather and the activities. We’re all enjoying the long tables in the restaurant which give us the chance to sit with different friends each mealtime or to make new ones. The bars are also great places for a similar community-spirit to be created. Guests could stick around at Baskerville Hall and get involved in fitness, yoga, lawn games and crafts or take advantage of the shuttle-bus to nearby Hay-on-Wye, famous for its

Our last full day here at Baskerville Hall was as full and exciting as any other, though sadly the weather turned a little and we even had some rain. It didn't dampen our spirits, though, with more fitness, yoga and crafts, plus games of frisbee golf and a treasure hunt around the house and grounds. Another quiz - partly focused on BN's 60 years - got us all thinking, and in a change to the usual routine, a BBQ was served for dinner. Guests then packed into the nightclub once again to watc

Come and enjoy a celebratory weekend at British Naturism: Sunfolk! On Saturday, 3 Sept, we're marking 90 years of Naturism at the Sunfolk site. Among other activities, we'll have a BBQ (including vegan variety) cake, tea, coffee and fizz! On Sunday, we'll be hosting a Great British Skinny Dip at 1pm - but come for the day and make a donation to British Heart Foundation during your visit. We're also pleased to announce that we're extending the season at British Naturism: Sunfolk. W

We're delighted to have made arrangements for a skinny dip session at the Withington Pool, Manchester to take place on Sunday 7 April at 6.30 to 8pm. Although this is a one-off event, who knows what it will lead to? It’s in your hands—if it is well supported, it would surely be repeated, just as happened with the Wigton Pool - where a monthly skinny dip run by the venue now takes place - and Shap Lido. We're constantly looking to bring the Great British Skinny Dips to your location. Ti

The original idea was for a Ladies Spa Day and Great British Skinny Dip at Lancashire Sun Club. Male club members and guests would be told to stay away while we women dipped, had massages, lolled in the hot tub and enjoyed a mid-afternoon snack. As it turned out, we did all those things but decided to let the men take part, too. All of us women but one were confirmed nudies, most were club members – and the sole newbie felt comfortable enough to join in. Lancs Sun is situated in a gorgeous

August 24 - which to my mind should always be a hot, sunny day – dawned grey and cold. Nevertheless, my partner Dave and I were off to Barkby Beach in Prestatyn, North Wales, for an outing with the North Wales Naturist Society (NWNS). The things we nudies do to enjoy our chosen lifestyle! A portion of the beach had been allocated to NWNS. Unlike many Naturist beaches, this one was fairly close to the carpark. I think most of us have experienced the usual miles-long trek past the clothed bea

It's not often we get to follow in the footsteps of Time Team but that's what happened to a group of us at Colne Priory this year. When Paul and Gill, BN members in Essex, invited forum members to visit their home near Colchester I didn't really know what to expect. We turned up on one of the many blissfully hot weekends that we had this August. Turning into the grounds we realised that we were next to a rather magnificent 18thcentury manor house with really interesting features. About twen

Isn’t it strange how random events can sometimes lead to amazing things? Serendipity was definitely behind the new Great British Skinny Dip (GBSD) on Sunday, 7 April, at Withington Baths in Manchester. Here’s how it came about: BN member Peter signed up for a paddle board-yoga class (no, me either) at the baths. While sitting in the café, he mentioned to a woman staff member that the pool would be a good place for a Naturist swim. She was enthusiastic. Sometime later, Peter ran into BN GBS

After two years in the making, we finally were able to head to Detroit-on-Sea (Bournemouth) for our Motown themed weekend and it didn’t disappoint. Friday night opened with the incredible Midnight Soul Sisters (pictured) with their authentic tribute to the girls of Motown – the dance floor was packed from start to finish. It was great to see the community back together – our Bournemouth events attracts mainly couples, and there were lots of new faces as well many familiar. It was also

‘From the time I first saw British Naturism Sunfolk, I fell in love with it. It was March – a damp, cool, misty day. The trees were still bare, holly was sprawling and the buildings were dull and tired. But there was something about the whole place; it was full of history and promise. And so began the season of Sunfolk for us as a family – a haven, four hours drive from our home up North,’ writes Fran. When Covid, school and life allowed, myself and our daughters, 14 and 12, bundled into m

I’m sitting in a pub on a cold, Tuesday evening in November in East London, writes Colin Taylor. There’s a few other folk here but it's not busy. 10 minutes to go before the doors open for this evening’s BN Naked Comedy Night. Usually, Naturists turn up well before the advertised start time of an event. “Where are they all?” I texted a friend. I nip to the loo and when I emerge there is a queue the length of the pub to get through to the upstairs venue! An eclectic mix of three acts enterta

There can be precious few moments in life to beat the pride of being selected to represent your country at sport. To be able to do it nude is the icing on the cake. This weekend a team of swimmers from British Naturism competed against 11 European nations at the International Naturist Federation swimming gala in the Serbian capital of Belgrade, with Naturists from Canada and the US also in attendance. Despite base camp, a modern four star hotel, being in the centre of the city, the glisteni

...in the Global Naturist Forum. There were two sessions - one with presentations from acknowledged Naturist leaders, on the state of Naturism around the world, and the second where a panel of well-known Naturists and influencers discussed widening Naturism's appeal among specific groups. We welcomed speakers, panellists and an audience from around the world - questions came from Chile, Canada, Slovenia and Singapore! Two more sessions tomorrow - not too late to sign up if you ha
