  1. Well-known to members of BN, and highly regarded, Laura Dodsworth author/photographer of ‘Bare Reality’ and ‘Manhood’ is embarking on her next project - and you can take part in it! It’s also the subject of a documentary being made for Channel 4. Burning Bright Productions are looking for women to speak about what being a woman is to them, told through their life experiences and their bodies. If you think you have an interesting story or view point you would like to be included then pl
  2. A clothes-optional performance at Stockwell Playhouse Theatre, London It was with some trepidation that I approached the clothes optional performance of SKIN DEEP at the Stockwell Playhouse.  I have reviewed shows at some very peculiar venues and sat on all kinds of seating including sandbags, but I have always worn clothes. How would I manage with my notebook without a good lap to rest it on? In the event, of course, I undressed and sat on a theatre seat and wrote in my notebook as usual.
  3. BBC launches new podcast about body image and nudity - with naked reporters Jenny Eells and Kat Harbourne, reporters at BBC Radio Sheffield, are baring all in an innovative series of podcasts for the BBC. The two women (pictured) want to explore issues around body image and nudity to find out why people are so prudish about their bodies and why many people, particularly women, aren’t more body confident. By recording each episode naked they encourage a more open conversation with their gues
  4. Those people who are lucky enough to have experienced skinny-dipping know that it’s so much better than swimming with a costume on! But that’s where the problem lies. The very thing that makes it better is also the thing that puts most people off! That’s where our national initiative, The Great British Skinny Dip comes in, Now in it’s third year, the aim is to overcome the nudity barrier by raising awareness of all the health, well-being and body-positivity benefits of nudity, and
  5. We were approached at the end of 2017 by filmmakers Natasha Coleman and Stephen Noble, looking for subjects to feature in a short film they were making. The film discusses how people find and feel about social nudity and aims to explore how confidence in our own bodies and respect for others prevents the objectification, and in extreme cases harassment, that plagues society. The result is ‘Bare with Me’ and it has been accepted into the East Film Festival and airs on April 26th. The categor
  6. Following the success of the performance of Hair! to a naked audience, we are pleased to bring you another opportunity to be part of a clothes-optional theatre event, at Stockwell Playhouse, London SW8. For one performance only –  the audience are welcome to dress or undress as they please. This will be a ‘clothing optional’ performance in celebration of the naked form. Come as you are!  Fully dressed, partially dressed or completely naked – you choose. Skin Deep is a musical all
  7. James reports on our most recent group holiday from a fully Naturist hotel in Ramsau, Austria ‘Ski in Paradise’ say the billboards at the Schladming-Dachstein ski-lifts, 15 minutes’ drive from our hotel in Ramsau, a big centre for cross-country ski-ing as well as downhill ski-ing, and also an excellent centre for walking. Our hotel, the Landhaus Lührmann, was fully Naturist for our March 2018 week, as Chalfont Holidays had taken sole occupancy. ‘So it really is naturist this year,’ I s
  8. ...and we're off...after a great start to our campaign aimed at educating people to the benefits of social nudity - and have a lot of fun in the process - we've set the date for The Great British Skinny Dip 2017 - it will run for the whole of September so there is ample opportunity for venues to pick a date - or more than one. Check out the GBSD website for more information, advice, contacts. BN members can find lots of discussion over in the members area on this website. Not a member?
  9. I've just returned from yet another surreal British Naturism event. I've been dancing naked till the early hours with a parrot on my shoulder surrounded by pirates. No, I didn't eat too much cheese before experiencing a weird nightmare. It was just another great Alton Towers night. For the 11th year Alton Towers Splash Landings Hotel has been the host to one of our flagship events. We had a record 397 members attending . The event goes from strength to strength with the quality of acts improving
  10. Andrew and Sarah Anderson get active on the BN Members’ Holiday to Fuerteventura "I'm going to be first in the water" says Jonathan as he rises and makes his way across the deck.  ‘We'll see about that.’ thought Andrew.  Being naked already, all there is to do is get up and leap off the back of "Love Boat II" into the clear blue waters off Isla Los Lobos.  It's January 2018 but the water is at least as warm as the south of England on a hot August day.  Captain David gives us chunks of bread
  11. Andrew Welch brings us up to date with British Naturism's marketing 'Selling' Naturism is a challenge because there still remains a stigma about nudity which means many people find it - at best - amusing and - at worst - sinister. In addition, people can easily practice Naturism without needing to pay for BN membership, but having a national organisation working in the way we do is not only useful, but essential if Naturism is to survive in the UK. We provide an incredible range of services
  12. A new focus for British Naturism in 2018 It’s pretty obvious to everyone in Naturism that spending time naked has positive effects for us. People report improvements in physical, mental, and emotional health; boosts in the sense of self-esteem and self-worth; how it gives us an escape from the rigours of daily life and allows us to deal better with stress; how it provides us with a supportive community; and overcomes body image issues. It seems like the perfect advert: Want a great life? Th
  13. A report on the highlights from around the country - thanks to everyone who took part in 2017! It was going to be a hard act to follow when running year two of The Great British Skinny Dip - after all there was no TV crew this year for a start! So, how would the campaign fare, free from the harsh spotlight of TV interest? Pretty well actually, for those venues who took part!  For a start, the weather was generally far more in our favour than in 2016, and there was a much more sustained 'buz
  14. Nudity everywhere, beaches, clubs, TV, film, magazines, absolutely everywhere is under a growing threat. Body-knowledge, body-honesty and body-acceptance, anything to do with the human body is under attack like never before, Mary Whitehouse included. The government, or more accurately an influential part of the government, are pursuing the "prudification of society" like no government that I can remember and they are being a lot more subtle about it than Mary Whitehouse. Much of the activit
  15. If you are a BN member we hope you are getting the most out of your membership. There is certainly plenty going on and lots to get involved with. If you are thinking of becoming a member, don’t just take our word for it…here’s what some of our members, many of them only recent joiners, have been saying… I’d recommend BN to friends or colleagues - 100% Contact from my regional area was friendly and unexpected. Reading the quarterly magazine has helped my wife realise that I'
  16. Saturday night saw almost 300 Naturists head to Waterworld in Stoke-on-Trent for a night of family fun. A great time was had by all as they took to the slides and flumes and relaxed in the tropical atmosphere. The nice thing about Waterworld is that there is something for everyone, from the thrills of the big rides to the hot-tub and wave pool, plus there is plenty of space to lounge around too. It was great to see so many new faces attending too. There was a good mix of families and a
  17. Hard to believe that Dunoon on May Bank Holiday was one of the warmest locations in Britain and enjoyed by maximum capacity guests, despite some sun burn!BBC Scotland Television and Radio gave excellent coverage of the event which for the first time offered a three night extension. This proved popular with first timers and several who had to journey some distance to attend. Visiting guests came from Germany, Belgium, Ireland as well as the British Isles, including the Scottish Hebridies and Skye
  18. BN’s new Events Manager Mark reports on our a fantastic event - an adrenaline-rush filled weekend in the Splash Landings Hotel at Alton Towers, and this year we had something to celebrate - a landmark tenth year at this prestigious venue. For those who haven't been (and I hadn't until this one) Splash Landings is a hotel with waterpark that British Naturism take over for a weekend of clothes-free fun…and by fun, I mean fun! I had read about the event with envy and longed to go but always ha

  20. Well what a festival, great venue, great people and great time had by all. 2016's festival was held at Thorney Lakes Camping and Caravan site near Langport, Somerset, a site found for us by Somerset Tourist board. The site is huge with a massive lake and loads of room for everyone to spread out. The site’s owner Sally could not have been more helpful and praise must also be given to the hard working catering and bar staff who went the extra mile, sometimes on top of the bar, in various states of

  23. What were you doing back in 1964? Ok, so quite a few of you were yet to enter the world, and to some it will seem like only yesterday. I was just eight and the nearest I got to Naturism that year was laughing at those saucy McGill nudist colony postcards on a family holiday in Swanage. Oh, so close to Studland! If only I had known and been older! While the Searchers were serenading us in the number one spot with Don’t Throw Your Love Away, representatives from 50 of the 70 Naturis
