The Great British Skinny Dip – 2nd - 4th September 2016
This event is open to the public.
Do something exhilarating…
This great event will provide lots of opportunities for people to try costume-free swimming across many varied locations, having fun, whilst also raising awareness of how many people’s buttoned-up attitude to the human body is causing them to lead potentially unhealthy lives.
Visit our dedicated website at www.greatbritishskinnydip.co.uk for all the details and the list of events, plus pictures, articles, videos, information and more...

Great British Skinny Dip 2016

When?
Friday 2nd September 2016 at 1pm.
Where?
Cleats Shore, Isle of Arran.
http://www.visitarran.com/what-to-see-do/arran-attractions/cleats-shore
Cleats Shore is Scotland’s most westerly official naturist beach, named after the igneous stone dykes that extend from the shore. It is located at the end of a short farm track off the A841, about half a mile west of the village of Kilmory on the southwest corner of Arran. The beach is a mixture of sand, pebbles and larger boulders with views to Ailsa Craig and across Kilbrannan Sound to Kintyre.

How do I get there?
Ferries
https://www.calmac.co.uk/ardrossan-brodick-arran-ferry-summer-timetable
Adult passenger return fare £7.50. Departures from Ardrossan at 0700 & 0945, to connect with:
Bus
Leaves from Brodick Pier, service 323 from Stance 4, fare £3 adult single or £5.60 Arran Dayrider. The bus journey takes approximately 50 minutes.
You can either alight at The Lagg Hotel and walk the half mile out of the village, past Clachaig Farm, to the turning for the cart track down to Cleats Shore. Alternatively, try asking the bus driver to drop you at the top of the track. Walk down the track, through the gate (lift the chain over the stone post and replace once through) and continue down to the stone sheds by the shore. We will be meeting in one of the bays. Note that Toby's Tearoom & grocery in Kilmory village has now closed, so bring all supplies with you. Refreshments are available at The Lagg Hotel which has a very pleasant beer garden, handy for the bus stop and return trip. Buses depart at 1524 and 1806, timed to arrive in Brodick for the departing ferry.

Cycle
The ride is 13 miles each way via the Ross road. The A841 from Brodick to Lamlash is busy with motor traffic, but once you’ve turned onto the Ross, which involves a strenuous climb to 900ft, the scenery is worth the perspiration!
Car
Return ferry fare £30.20 (excludes driver & passengers)
Note there is no suitable parking space near the access track to the beach. Please park tidily in the village of Kilmory and walk from there (remain covered until out of sight of the public road).
What should I bring?
Picnic food and something to drink
Clothing to suit Scottish weather (sun hat, flip-flops or beach shoes, fleece in case it turns cold, rainwear)
Towel, sunscreen, midgie repellant
What else is happening?
Official photographs may be taken to record the event. It’s your choice whether or not to be included.
Beach tidy-up at end.
You might also like to visit the 5000 year-old Torrylin burial cairn, which is located along a footpath starting from the village.
