Knepp is a 3,500 acre estate just south of Horsham, West Sussex. Since 2001, the land – once intensively farmed - has been devoted to a pioneering rewilding project. Using grazing animals as the drivers of habitat creation, and with the restoration of dynamic, natural water courses, the project has seen extraordinary increases in wildlife. Extremely rare species like turtle doves, nightingales, peregrine falcons and purple emperor butterflies are now breeding here; and populations of more common species are rocketing.
The vision of the Knepp Wildland Project is radically different to conventional nature conservation in that it is not driven by specific goals or target species. Instead, its driving principle is to establish a functioning ecosystem where nature is given as much freedom as possible. The aim is to show how a ‘process-led’ approach can be a highly effective, low-cost method of ecological restoration - suitable for failing or abandoned farmland - that can work to support established nature reserves and wildlife sites, helping to provide the webbing that will one day connect them together on a landscape scale.
Join us on a guided walking tour and experience the profusion of birds, mammals, butterflies, beetles, reptiles, plants and fungi in a setting that feels as wild and dynamic as the African bush. Exploring Knepp on foot gives you the greatest opportunity to soak up the sounds and sights of the rewilding project. Heading into the wildland at a gentle pace, you will have plenty of time to take in our astonishing wildlife – from herds of free-roaming longhorn cattle, red and fallow deer, Exmoor ponies and Tamworth pigs, to delicate butterflies and dragonflies.
Walking will be for 2½-3 hours, with frequent stops to look at wildlife. You’ll need a moderate level of fitness and be able to cope with walking on uneven ground.
Please note that this will be a naturist event and has been arranged by East Sussex Naturists.
The cost is £40.00 per person. Please book direct with ESN at esnaturists@gmail.com.

    Thu 19 Aug 2021 16:30      19:30

Following a very successful evening in summer 2020, we’re delighted that Sophie and her team will be hosting further naturist evenings in 2021
Two evenings have been planned in June and August - both of these events are organised by Houghton Lodge themselves for BN members and for other naturists
The gardens will be open exclusively for naturists during these events
The cost for entry will by £9 payable on the door - cash is preferred, but the gardens will also accept cards. There is no need to pre-book online for this event
We expect the cafe and terrace to be open throughout the evening, subject if course to whatever COVID restrictions are in place at the time
If you haven’t visited the gardens before, they are a delightful mix of more formal areas together with paths leading down to the river Test, lawns and wooded areas. You can find our more about the gardens by visiting their website Here
If you have any questions about this event, please contact Jon Williams at jon.williams@bn.org.uk

    Thu 19 Aug 2021 18:00      19:30

Every Thursday, 7:00-8:30pm. The cost is £5, and you’ll also need a (refundable) £1 coin or trolley token for the lockers.
The address is Arcadia Library & Leisure Centre, Yew Tree Avenue, Manchester, M19 3PH. There's free parking at the back, with cycle racks and local bus stops at the front, and Levenshulme train station a three minute walk away with frequent, direct services to Manchester Piccadilly. The group meets inside the leisure centre, just beyond reception, against the blue wall near the computers. A group member will welcome you there and take payment; don't pay at reception.
If you do attend, you must:
    * Bring proof of double vaccinations - a vaccination card or NHS app will be required.
    * Pay contactless - all major credit / debit cards are accepted plus Apple Pay and Google Pay.
    * Wear a mask when gathering in the foyer area and remain masked until naked ready to swim then unmask and enjoy the swim.
    * Re-mask after the swim once showered. Please give space and respect individual preference.
    * Stay at home if you have any symptoms of covid and do not attend.
The pool we use has its own changing cubicles, lockers, showers and toilets, and includes facilities for wheelchair users. Full length blinds protect our privacy from the neighbouring pool for the duration of our swim. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed; in the pool you can swim or chat as much or as little as you like. There's an optional visit to the nearby pub The Bluebell for a pint afterwards. Sadly due to covid protocols, the sauna and steam room are temporarily out of use.
Please RSVP here to indicate your attendance; no other phoning or emailing ahead is required. Numbers vary, but average 15-20 guys each week; the maximum allowed is 30. The swim is advertised on various online sites and groups, so don’t worry if there are low numbers attending from this listing. This swim was established in 2006, and is one of the UK’s few remaining male only naturist swim events. Men from not just Manchester, but all over the UK and even around the world have swam with us; and all men are welcome to attend. For any queries, please email swiminfo@manchestermalenakedswim.co.uk or search @mcrmalenkdswim on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated.
