British Naturism has published its new Equality and Diversity Policy and Code of Practice.

British Naturism has already done much to address issues around equality, diversity and inclusion within the organisation; for example raising awareness of body positivity, mental health, women’s equality, hate crime and anti-discrimination practice within Naturism; and this Policy, along with its Code of Practice, is designed to enhance that work and take the organisation forward in this important area.

The Policy and Code of Practice seeks to:

  • eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010;
  • advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not;
  • recognise and celebrate diversity; promote inclusion and foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.

I love the way this is worded - "between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not". I haven't read the full policy document yet but this definitely sounds positive.

Good work :)

I think it isn't really necessary and inadvertantly opens up opportunity for non positive inclusion. I know this isn't the intention. Only saying. x

I must admit I don't quite understand what is meant by "non positive inclusion", would you be happy to elaborate please?

Just looking to better understand your point of view :)

To be honest. I struggle with the whole sentence but what I was picking up on was that it could be taken as a negative dressed up as a positive and doesn't really add to the sentence. Perhaps its just me.
