'Can you help Shaftesbury Lido?', we asked back in February. Well you (and others) did!
Shaftesbury Lido is over 100 years old and the town council have been hosting their own nude swims since 2023. A lot of pools never survived lockdown so a council-run pool supportive of Naturism is something to cherish. They wanted to fund a new filtration system and a new pool liner, and launched the crowdfunding scheme to help with the (huge) cost.
The Friends of Shaftesbury Swimming have launched a crowdfunding page. “Sports England” promised to donate £15,000 provided the Council and the Friends can match the amount.
Success! The fund topped £30,000! The renovations got underway, but – as often happens – the contractors hit a couple of snags that delayed the filling of the pool, and therefore the opening until late May. If you are in the area, this is a great weekly swim to support!
