News and Articles

News and articles about BN and the wonderful world of Naturism
How lucky we all are! We’re able to stroll around stately homes and castles with beautiful gardens without wearing a stitch while we simultaneously raise funds for the British Heart Foundation during our Naked Heart Walks.
Nothing’s better than walking naked, feeling the breeze on your skin, socialising with fellow nudies, experiencing the many health benefits and body confidence that are attached to being naked – and being outdoors in fine weather.
They also provide an excellent way to introduce social nudity to your friends. It’s been a delight to meet many people using a Naked Heart Walk as their first Naturist experience - and loving it.
Today, much earlier than in previous years, we are delighted to announce that tickets for no fewer than nine events are now on sale!
We’re  on the lookout for more venues to enjoy as nature intended during the Spring and Summer months and into the Autumn—please don’t hesitate to get in touch with suggestions, particularly in areas where no walks are currently scheduled! There’s no limit to how many we can have, nor the amount we raise for BHF!
British Naturism is a busy organisation, working on many fronts to provide services to members and make life better for all Naturists. The backbone of our activity is the many and varied events we offer giving Naturists the opportunity to enjoy naked activities in a safe, welcoming space and share their enjoyment with like-minded people.
We’ve worked particularly hard this autumn to make ALL next year’s events available for booking in one go, and many months before they happen, allowing you to plan what you will do.
Check out this page to see them all - and make your reservation. Events range from our big festivals, to themed weekends at Sunfolk, hotel breaks, a group holiday, sports tournaments, weekends in the great outdoors and more.
See you there!

Look out in the next news story for all the 2025 Naked Heart Walks in conjunction with our charity partner British Heart Foundation, also open for booking.
The great people from Nuud gum (nuudgum.com) - a plant-based, and therefore environmentally-friendly chewing gum - approached us some months ago with a view to collaborating on publicity and promotion. In October, around fifteen Naturists spent a fabulous day in central London with the Nuud crew, creating videos and still images for a campaign that has now been launched on Instagram.
You'll see that far from being 'just' the cast, the profile of British Naturism and our involvement is high - and there is plenty (planty??) more to come including (fingers crossed) outside of social media.

We like to bring you news stories of forthcoming events - it spreads the word, encourages more people to book and shows just how vibrant the Naturist scene is in the UK. However - I'm happy to say - there are far too many to promote them all individually and so here is a complete list of all the events happening over just the next couple of weeks and big events taking place later. Enjoy! And don't forget that we are always looking for reports on great gatherings for the magazine and elsewhere...
Please note: only those events organised through BN are covered by BN’s insurance.  Participants in other events should make their own enquiries regarding appropriate insurance cover for that event.

British Naturism is the UK member of the International Naturist Federation, the global organisation for Naturists that exists to represent, support and coordinate Naturist activity worldwide. If you are a BN member, you are automatically a member of the INF! You can find out more at inf-fni.org.
Their newsletter - Focus - is published every two months and provides an update as to what’s going on in the INF and beyond.
The December  edition of Focus features news of the successful INF-FNI World Congress in Zipolite that took place in October. In a related article Héctor Martinez introduces himself as the INF-FNI’s communications officer, a new and exciting position that aims to transform how Naturism is communicated around the World. In other articles we find out about how New Zealand’s naturists spend Christmas and how South Africans enjoy a range of naturists activities in their upcoming summer months.
It's available from the BN website downloads section (log in required)
Next week (9 December) on the Forum Live we will hear from key people who attended the recent International Naturist Federation (INF) Congress in Mexico.
Two meetings took place - in sweltering heat - and we'll look at what was discussed in both, what decisions were made and how it all shaped the future of global Naturism.
Join the session on the night over in the BN shop
Join host Helen Berriman, BN's Women's Officer, for a new episode of the podcast from British Naturism, dedicated to celebrating and empowering women in the Naturist community. Our podcast is created by women for women, although we warmly invite men to join us and listen as well.
In each episode, we delve into insightful conversations, exploring various aspects of Naturism through the lens of womens' experiences. Whether you are a seasoned Naturist, new to the way of life or just intrigued, we aim to educate and inspire. We highlight the experiences, challenges, and triumphs of women in Naturism. Promoting body acceptance and self love, we explore how women across the planet have shed their clothes and freed up their minds, leading them toward a more fulfilling life in all areas; one that no longer keeps them restricted - emotionally, mentally, physically, and in all other ways.
Naturism is not something that is typically associated with women of Middle Eastern origin, on account of the social expectations from that part of the world making even female body autonomy feel like a challenge, let alone body acceptance. But for some the combination of academic education, cultural migration, and an innate sense of what is right creates a mind open to the possibility. Dr. Vian Aziz was born and raised in Iraq and through a series of moves brought her young family to the UK in 2010, where she settled in Cardiff and works as a gynaecologist. Following her postgraduate study for a professional certificate in psychosexual counselling, she re-evaluated her own body perceptions leading her to not just try naturism, but to become an outspoken advocate for it. In this episode she tells her story to Helen. corporate world places on womens appearance, the positive impact that the social media age has had on body issues, and much more.

As we approach the end of the year, it’s a time to look back at some of the great experiences we will have enjoyed as Naturists and BN members in 2024, and start making plans for 2025.
It’s also a time of year when many of us will celebrate Christmas and will be looking for gifts for our friends and family – or maybe even to treat ourselves to something! If you’re stuck for inspiration, why not head over to the BN Shop to check out our range of products featuring the BN logo, and Naturist-themed slogans.
Our beanie hats are particularly popular at this time of year, and they’re available in a range of colours and styles – the slogan ‘Isn’t it a bit cold for that’ is particularly popular with Naturist walkers!
If you prefer to stay indoors, why not enjoy a hot drink from one of our great value ceramic mugs. Again, these are available with the BN logo, along with several different slogans.
If you’re looking to buy presents for the other Naturists (or potential Naturists) in your life, then products from the BN Shop will make a unique gift. You can also buy gift vouchers, which can be redeemed against either our products or our busy events programme.
Don’t forget that if you spend over £50, you’ll receive free delivery on your order.
We’re looking forward to making lots of improvements to the BN Shop in 2025. Watch this space for more details of the new products that we’ll be adding to our range. We also hope to be selling products direct to visitors at Sunfolk across the year, and at our larger events.
You can find all of our products available to purchase at shop.bn.org.uk and can get in touch with us with your comments, questions, and suggestions at shop@bn.org.uk

We’re delighted to report that our good friends and supporters at Vritomartis Naturist resort in Crete have proudly received the prestigious Greek Architecture Award 2024 for the best-completed project for The Hidden Ladies Suites. The award celebrates the resort’s outstanding achievement in blending modern luxury with the breathtaking natural beauty of Crete, creating a unique and unforgettable accommodation experience for guests.
The four exclusive suites – Sofia, Eleni, Katerina, and Eleutheria – were meticulously designed to offer the highest levels of privacy, space, and comfort. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Libyan Sea and the rugged Cretan landscape, these suites are a true sanctuary.
The minimalist architecture features clean lines, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, and natural materials such as white cement and stone, ensuring a seamless connection with the surrounding nature. The suites are equipped with private outdoor Jacuzzis, where guests can unwind while taking in the peaceful sounds of the natural environment.
Designed with the guest’s ultimate relaxation in mind, the Hidden Ladies Suites provide a luxurious, private retreat for those seeking an escape from everyday life. With their minimalistic yet elegant design, high-end amenities, and unparalleled views, these suites offer a vacation experience like no other. The combination of modern architecture, natural beauty, and the story behind the suites make them a true hidden gem for travellers looking for tranquillity and exclusivity. This award confirms that the Hidden Ladies Suites are not only a stunning architectural achievement but also a one-of-a-kind destination for luxury and serenity.
The suites hold a special signifi cance for the owner, Nikos, as they are named after four important women in his life – his mother, sisters, and aunts. As Nikos explains: “The creation of the Hidden Ladies Suites is a heartfelt tribute to the women who have played a vital role in my life. We are deeply honoured to receive this award and proud to share this extraordinary experience with our guests.”

It is now almost five years since COVID struck and we launched our program of online events.  At a time when we were unexpectedly forced into our homes, online interactions made a real difference to many people’s lives and are one of the things that British Naturism can be most proud of.
Five years on, people’s lives have changed again and it is important that British Naturism adapts to keep up.  Online fitness is regularly reviewed and has been through several generations, but our community events have largely remained the same.

For 2025 we plan to look at how our community events work. It is certain that the format of The Forum Live will change, but we don’t want to lose it completely and so it would be great to hear ideas from the people who attend. Therefore, we will use the final debate of 2024 to discuss how community events could be refreshed and any new ideas people may have.
Join us on the night over in the BN shop...
Sunfolk closed its gates on the summer season last Friday. But there wasn’t a silence there over the weekend, far from it! Volunteers started arriving that evening for the start of the first volunteer working parties of the winter season. This weekend was about clearing overgrown vegetation, leaf, and drainage ditch clearance and a general tidy up.
The laurels were pruned down around the perimeter of all the lawns and a large fire burned ferociously for most of the day. There were lots of leaves to clear, from walkways and car park and from the water drainage ditches.
Mark Walsh, Chris Mills and I coordinated the dozen volunteers who were there for one or two days, some staying overnight in our pods.
As well as clearing up there were some preparations for the new season, next year and for the new BareBnB opportunity for members that launched recently. New festoon lights were installed around the spa area and by the caravan bays. In the Pavilion we created a more homely look with a tv area, games area, including table tennis. The meeting room was transformed into a pool room.
We are always grateful to volunteers who give their time to support our Sunfolk operations and help on these weekends. A couple of them even braved the slightly cooler temperatures and worked without clothes. The hot tub and sauna were available to ease their tired muscles and relax.
I’ve always been an open-minded person, writes Caroline. I’d heard about Naturism and thought, “Why not? Life is too short.”, but never felt brave enough. After a death in my family an old friend, Jack, reached out to me. We quickly became an item, and he mentioned he enjoyed the freedom of walking around naked and had attended a naked wedding. I was immediately intrigued. He suggested we could go to the Naturist beach in Studland, and so we did! As soon as I got there, I got undressed immediately; it felt weird to be clothed among naked people. It felt so freeing and to swim naked felt so natural. I was hooked and now identify myself as a Naturist. I’ve never felt like I fit in with everyday society, never found where I belonged or my place, until I became a Naturist. I met many other people like me, a dreamer, looking for a kinder, safer environment to be ourselves in.
My first ever Naturist event was the Every Body Festival in 2023. With a lot of excitement and feeling just a little bit scared, I went for it. Jack and I camped on the hill on the site of the venue, Moonacre in Dorset, a beautiful, enclosed space. I was among like-minded people who felt free being naked as nature intended. I made so many lovely friends and took part in many workshops and activities including ‘laughter yoga’ (which was as hilarious as it sounds) a Holi paint fight and a trip to Splashdown, the local waterpark. As soon as tickets were available for the next year, we booked immediately. I had had so much fun, it really was the start of something amazing.
So we arrived in August at the same venue, on the Thursday and were pleasantly surprised by the sight of many naked bodies already present and gathering around the fire pit. All told there were 200 attendees across the event, almost twice the number from 2023 including people from USA, India, Spain, Ireland, Belgium and Germany – maybe as a result of the grant from the International Naturist Federation. There was a mixture of excitement and anticipation as the event began. There is something special about Every Body festival, and such a strong sense of community. A safe space to be myself. Once again I felt confident in my own skin.
We were pleased to meet with friends we made the previous year, taking part in icebreaker introductions, a quiz, and a wonderful evening around the fire meeting new people on that first evening. On Friday, blessed with good weather, many people were sat on the hill, chatting about anything and everything. There’s something about an event where being clothes-free helps break down the barriers in everyday society and also removes any expectations of social status and judgement. Stripped back to our naked selves, there is no illusion of hierarchy. We are all simply human.
I got to try a new experience I’ve always secretly wanted to – water zorbing! Jack and I got into the two-man inflatable on the water and (unsuccessfully) spent most of our time trying to gain our footing. It was great fun! Then, there was a friendly dodgeball tournament in a specially designed court on the main field. In the evening was a personal highlight – the UV paint party. I love to dance and sing. Everyone looked great enjoying themselves and being free.
With many events being held throughout the festival there was no shortage of things to do. Lots of people spent time in the Magic Teapot music venue and enjoyed a photography workshop, rounders and fitness, yoga and meditation sessions.
Later in the weekend we were part of a unique experience; dozens of us, spelling words with our bodies for a set of body-positive drone pictures. I like to get creative, so joined in the clay crafts workshop and created a vase. Jack thoroughly enjoyed taking part in possibly a world-first – naked combat archery! After the annual trip to the local Splashdown water park, mixing also with Naturists not attending Splashdown we enjoyed a silent disco, with three channels so there was always something to dance to.
The next morning, I was glad there was a massage workshop, teaching us how to perform gentle massage on our partners. It wouldn’t have been Every Body without the popular Holi paint fight, followed by a slip and slide down the hill. I had a go at body portrait drawing (“No Pants-o-graph”) where I laid on the ground as Jack and I drew around each other to create a still image using a fascinating contraption.
Although many were completely strangers, what I loved the most was how we are a community and share a bond. A mutual respect regardless of what we look like and who we are. With live music, dancing and too many workshops to name taking place – equally as much fun had simply laying on the hill meeting new people and forming some wonderful new friendships – I can’t recommend the festival enough. I have built up my confidence and tried so many new things.

We can’t wait till next year!
Caroline

It’s #TrusteesWeek!  The time of year when we celebrate the amazing contribution made by trustees for their charities, not-for-profit and voluntary organisations and recognise the difference they make.
Trustees’ Week is an annual event held during November (this year 4-8 November 2024) to showcase the great work people do as trustees, directors and committee members and provide opportunities for everyone to get involved and make a difference.
It’s a time to celebrate the achievements of trustees across the UK and to thank them for the time, commitment, and effort they bring to our charities, not-for-profit and voluntary organisations to help them thrive.

Crucial Role
Charities, not-for-profit and voluntary organisations play a crucial role in addressing social needs and driving positive change.  A central part of their success is its trustees.
Trustees, directors and committee members are the guardians of an organisation’s mission.  They oversee its strategic direction, financial management, and legal compliance.  They bring a diverse range of experiences and perspectives.  This helps organisations, like British Naturism, make better decisions and have a bigger impact.
The Directors and Executive Committee members of British Naturism are volunteers who give their time and effort and take on big responsibilities.  Being a Director or Officer of BN is a rewarding experience.  It allows us to learn new skills, meet new people, and gain experience.  Most importantly, we get to give back to a cause and a community we care about.
Directors and Officers, like all trustees, play a sophisticated role in governance, compliance, and strategic decision-making.  The role is becoming more complex as voluntary organisations navigate an ever-evolving landscape.  Tackling issues such as social justice, environmental sustainability, and health requires trustees with more diverse skills.
British Naturism, in common with between one in three and one in two voluntary organisations, has vacancies for Directors and Officers.  This means we are missing out on the skills and knowledge we need to deliver the biggest impact possible.  And it’s making the job harder for those who already give so much.

Understanding the Issue
To address this issue, we must first understand it.  The NCVO report of a recent Voluntary Sector survey Understanding Trustee Recruitment and Retention Challenges helps us to do just that.
“Trustee vacancies are a widespread and persistent issue.  This is mostly due to recruitment rather than retention challenges.  Once in position, trustees tend to remain longer than other volunteers.  Trustee vacancies impact both organisations and individuals.  They lead to difficulties in decision-making, following good governance practices, and organisational development.  Vacancies can create stress and anxiety for trustees.  Trustees often feel pressured to do extra work.  This only gets worse as trustees leave and organisations struggle to find replacements.  But there are steps boards can take to address these challenges.”
The report suggests that organisations should...

IMPROVE GOVERNANCE PRACTICES.  Governance can sometimes seem complicated or feel like a tick box exercise.  But having clear structures and processes can streamline recruitment and reduce stress.  Well-governed trustee boards can build a more resilient, inclusive, and impactful voluntary sector.
Within British Naturism we have developed new policies to help improve our governance.  We have clear structures and processes to streamline recruitment.  At our recent in-person meeting we agreed on a new five-year Strategic Plan for 2025-2030 and members are now pulling together their annual objectives and delivery plans for 2025.  Policies are also being reviewed and new ones developed.

DIVERSIFY RECRUITMENT.  By targeting specific groups, organisations can access new talent pools.
Within British Naturism we continue to promote our volunteering opportunities, to encourage more members to register their interest in volunteering and, if necessary, to head hunt ‘difficult to fill’ roles.  British Naturism supports the Women on Boards initiative and welcomes applications from women and others to bring fresh experience and perspectives to the governance of BN.

PROVIDE CLEAR ROLE DESCRIPTIONS.  Help trustees understand the role they’re committing to by providing clear role descriptions.
Within British Naturism we already provide clear opportunity and role descriptions that outline the responsibilities, time commitments and skills needed.  We also seek to encourage members to become Directors and Officers and promote the benefits of doing so; whether it’s personal growth, making a difference, or developing new skills.  We need to do more by sharing their stories and experiences.

Get On Board
There are opportunities for members to utilise their skills, knowledge and experience 'to get on board' as part of the Leadership Team of British Naturism and join the Executive Committee, as part of the following roles:
Finance Director – you will be responsible for the strategic oversight of the organisation’s financial affairs and assisting the Executive Committee to fulfil its duties and responsibilities for the proper financial governance of the organisation.
Vice Chair (and a Company Director) – your role will be to support the Chair in enabling the Executive Committee to fulfil its responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation.
Campaigns Officer – you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the development of new and existing campaigns that promote and normalise naturism and social nudity as a healthy lifestyle.
Regional Organiser (LASER) – you will be coordinating and promoting a programme of naturist activities and opportunities in the London and South East Region; leading the delivery of the organisation's aims and objectives and representing the interests and views of members in the region.

For a bit of fun, try the Trustee Quiz and test your knowledge.  You don't need to get 100% to become a BN Director or Officer as we can provide training and help you gain the skills needed.  Do let me know what your score is!

To find out more about any of these roles, view the opportunities listed on the website and browse or search for the role you are interested in (member login required) or contact John Gelder, Volunteering Officer, by email: john.gelder@bn.org.uk or DM through the website.
Many people don’t even know they know a Naturist, and assume that we are still that fringe minority on the far edges of society. In fact, we are their next-door neighbours, their work colleagues, the people on the next table in the pub, in the aeroplane seats in the row in front, in the car hire queue behind them at the airport … everywhere. We completely understand the fear of adverse reactions, but want to encourage you to help Naturism in the UK to grow and become normal. While it remains hidden, misguided and incorrect views of Naturism will continue. The more that people know about it, the better things will be.
Don’t stress about making everyone in your life aware, tell Just One Person. It’s probably quite easy to pick someone who would not be judgemental. Don’t assume it will be bad. You’ll probably find that you get a positive or sympathetic reaction. Feedback from those that have ‘come out’ suggests that you will feel better having told someone – it may actually be a relief!
If you need some more help in what to say, see the ‘How to Talk about Naturism’ download available from the BN website.
Here are some Just One Person experiences (edited for space reasons) from our members as posted on the BN members forum - we look forward to reading yours!

On a cycling holiday in Spain, when leaving a restaurant, I suggested the seven of us guys skinny dipped in the sea. It was dark and predictably I was alone to a chorus of laughs, but on return to the UK one of the people in the cycle group (but not on the holiday) said he would have done it because he and his wife often go to nude beaches on holiday and sunbathe naked in their garden.

I decided to trim the top of the hedge between our and the neighbours garden. I couldn't reach the far side and so popped round (clothed) into their garden to complete the task - my being in their garden was not an issue, we had agreed on it previously. I noticed the hedging had become quite "see through" in  a couple of places. and decided that I would mention being a Naturist. My neighbour told me she had lived in Germany for some time and had used a beach with an FKK section and didn't seem at all concerned about me being naked in my garden.

I had to have an catheter fitted and was chatting to a pharmacist for some advice on care and maintenance regimes. I brought up how difficult it was to wear shorts over the pipe work and that being a Naturist made life so much more comfortable. She agreed - not only in the “mechanical” side, but also being comfortable in my own body would lessen the stress. Another lady there who had also had some surgery was talking about her forthcoming holiday. I told her I would be wearing a wrap for the long weekend to Liverpool Sun and Air. She asked if had I ever been to Maspalomas, she and her husband had been last year and "there were loads a naked people on the beach, it looked great, but I couldn't ...” gesturing to her Rubenesque figure. Obviously, I pointed out that any body is fine for Naturism. So two more people talked to, definitely no negativity at all.

I used to work with a woman who I bonded with over a deep love of conspiracy theory. We neither agreed or opposed them, but loved the sheer, swivel-eyed lunacy of some/many of them. She left, but we kept in touch to share further incidences of utterly crazy conspiracy theories. This was and is the extent of our 'relationship' until just a few days ago when she asked how I was managing in retirement. At work, I had never mentioned any interest in Naturism but yesterday I happened to mention that I had been skinny dipping. I'd forgotten that she had spent a year in Germany doing her degree, and she came back with the comment that “I used to love doing that in the Tiergarten in Berlin when studying” before going on to inquire if I knew about Berlin's Muggelsee, an FKK “beach” on the outskirts of the city and asked me to let her know if I was off skinny dipping in the future. “I miss that. It made me feel alive.’’ The moral of the story is, I suppose, never to hide your Naturist light under a bushel. You never know what allies or theoretical supporters are out there! Don't be afraid to tell “just one person”.

Not one person but two. I was walking naked along a local beach frequented generally by only Naturists when I heard my name called from the dunes. Then two people I used to work with came jogging down to the beach. I had no idea they were Naturists either. We had quite a nice chat and catch up with what we'd been up to.

Over the summer I’ve mentioned to a couple of my fellow mature students that we went to some nudist beaches on holiday. One chap replied telling me how he’d enjoyed doing the same a few years ago, and another student asked a few sensible questions about what it’s like etc, with the result that it’s now on their bucket list of things to do with their partner!

Looks like I’ve been “Just One Personed”. I was chatting to a work colleague who I’ve known for over 20 years now. I see him on a weekly basis and we were talking about a holiday he was booking for early next year.  I asked where he was staying as we are looking to go to the same island next year. “You probably won’t want to stay here” he says “as it’s a Naturist hotel!” I smiled and said, “What makes you think that, we are off to Vritomartis in Crete this Sunday …” We then spent a couple of minutes chatting and googling each other’s holiday places. I keep laughing to myself every time I think of it.

On a cycling holiday in Mallorca, I mentioned to a lady in the group that I was going for a post ride dip. She said “That sounds wonderful” and asked if she may join me. After confessing it was to be a skinny one, she said “That’s fine” and that as a nurse she wasn’t at all fazed by nakedness but would keep her bikini for that day but would maybe embrace the freedom the following day. Next day, same routine after cycling and sure enough, she participated, even with other men beach fishing only a short distance away. She thanked me for introducing her to the freedom and giving her the confidence to try.
On a day that the news is full of US Presidential elections, I'm delighted to announce that on next Monday's The Forum Live (11 November) I'll be talking to another recently elected US President! My guest will be Linda Weber, no stranger to The Forum Live (and a BN member), but this time in her new role as President of the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR), an organisation that operates in the US rather like BN over here.
We'll find out more about Linda, the roles she has filled in the past and why she decided to take on the 'top job'. We'll also talk about her plans for AANR and look into the state of Naturism more widely in the States.
Join us on the night over in the BN shop

Each year, we invite nominations for the Merit Awards, which recognise exceptional contributions to British Naturism or Naturism as a whole. These contributions may be sustained over time or more focused and recent, but they all share one common factor: they are exceptional.
This year, we awarded five Merit Awards, four of which were presented at the AGM, and one at the EveryBody Festival. Let us applaud these contributors and thank them for their invaluable work.

Nicolas de Corte and Lindsay Van Wambeke
Nick and Lins are among the most effective Naturist influencers active today. Best known through their blog, Naked Wanderings, which they started in 2017, their outreach has expanded across various social media channels, amassing tens of thousands of followers. They communicate effectively with audiences of all ages – from novice Naturists considering a journey into Naturism to seasoned Naturists seeking new destinations.
In addition to their online influence, they have made significant contributions to organised Naturism. Notably, they encouraged Stéphane Deschênes to stand for election as President of the INF in 2021 and have represented Australia and South Africa at the last two INF World Congresses. Presenting themselves as relatable individuals rather than eccentric figures, they have inspired both existing and prospective Naturists worldwide.

The Sunfolk Working Party, led by Chris Mills
While the building and infrastructure redevelopment at Sunfolk was executed by contractors, the project’s completion and reopening were made possible by the extraordinary contributions of the Sunfolk working parties. This dedicated team of volunteers tackled numerous tasks, including the redevelopment of camping and caravanning grounds, installing assistance aids, building interior furniture, replanting, creating new sun lawns, managing deliveries, groundwork, painting, cleaning, and team management. Without their efforts, the site would not have been ready to reopen this summer.
We would like to highlight Chris Mills as a key example of commitment. He has been present virtually every day, contributing to every task, both skilled and mundane. The Sunfolk project represents the largest undertaking British Naturism has ever embarked on, and the working party deserves recognition for their remarkable contributions to this legacy.

David Evans
David Evans has served as minutes secretary to the Executive Committee (EC) since February 2013, and we wish to recognise him upon his retirement for his extended service. Taking minutes for large meetings is a challenging task, and without David’s reliable contributions, the EC would struggle to function effectively. His integrity has been crucial in navigating sensitive issues that the EC must discuss.
When David began his role, there were only four meetings per year. With the implementation of new virtual approaches, we transitioned to approximately monthly meetings, often in the evenings. David accepted this increased workload without hesitation, demonstrating his commitment to the organisation. We honour David’s contribution as a true servant of British Naturism.

Women in Naturism Podcast
Occasionally, new initiatives emerge that take British Naturism in unexpected directions. One such initiative is the Women in Focus Podcast, presented by Helen Berriman and supported by Simon Berriman in production. These hour-long podcasts feature interviews with inspirational Naturist women from around the world. By publishing through mainstream platforms, they place Naturist content before a wider audience, increasing visibility and engagement.

The Great British Skinny Dip and Naked Heart Walk Team
In recent years, one of the most significant areas of growth has been the Great British Skinny Dips (GBSD) and Naked Heart Walks (NHW). British Naturism’s partnership with the British Heart Foundation has brought a new level of credibility to Naturist recreation. However, it is the volunteer team behind these initiatives that has created a portfolio of hundreds of skinny dips and numerous walks at stunning locations.

By combining charity, breathtaking venues, and unique opportunities, they have normalised Naturism and provided welcoming environments for newcomers. The team’s dedication and constant communication in sharing best practice exemplify what volunteer efforts can achieve.

Honorary Membership – Jon Williams
We are very pleased to celebrate the conferring of Honorary Membership on Jon Williams. Honorary Membership goes beyond a Merit award, acknowledging the rare individual who significantly changes the direction of the organisation. As such, this prestigious award is voted on by the membership to ensure it reflects our collective will and appreciation.
Jon Williams contributed exceptional service during his tenure as Vice Chair.  His leadership in restructuring the organisation’s infrastructure for modern working practices has created a platform for future progress. He led the dissolution of the physical office and creation of the new, remote office to improve cost efficiency, support for members and support for regions, created the new British Naturism shop, led the working group to investigate support for clubs, and supported individual members through events spread from the Highlands to the South Coast. His most notable achievement is the redevelopment of British Naturism: Sunfolk. The site, previously managed by the Sun-Folk Society, was entrusted to British Naturism owing to the foresight of its previous owners, who recognised the need for continued stewardship to ensure the site’s future success.  The buildings on the site had reached the end of their serviceable life, and the infrastructure required extensive replacement.  Jon guided the transformation, addressing challenges such as building within the green belt, and successfully created a venue that will foster the growth of Naturism and preserve the legacy of this historic location for the next century.
