BN runs three group fitness sessions each week. Class leader Roy says:
'Come and start your fitness journey at your pace and in the comfort and privacy of your own home. No travel to the gym and the freedom to participate naked! The benefits are not only physical but have been shown to have  a positive effect upon mental health too. Over the years we have been delivering the classes the feedback has been incredible; 'amazing', 'life changing', 'inspirational', 'confidence building', and so it goes on. The classes are as easy or hard as you wish them to be, you work at your own pace and soon become part of a great online fitness community.

Announcing themed weekends at British Naturism Sunfolk!

Opening again last summer after refurbishment, British Naturism Sunfolk was an instant hit and popular for day visitors and those who stayed longer in tents, camper and caravans and our glamping pods.
Booking is open for the 2025 season too - and we're pleased to announce  three themed weekends which we are hosting at the site.
Choose from (or do them all!):
May - Naked Fitness weekend - the perfect balance of fitness, friendship and social. Activities include Yoga, Group Fitness  and meditation sessions. 
June - Pride weekend - activities to include BBQ, Sports, Sauna, Hot tub and much more
September - Naked Fitness 'Holistic' weekend - more wellness as well as Group Exercise and Yoga. External practitioners will be on-site all weekend, providing massage and other holistic treatments.

One of our most popular and long-running online sessions is the weekly quiz which takes place every Friday evening at 7.30pm. It's a lot of fun and sociable too, with a different quizmaster/mistress each week.
Find out more including how to join the session over in the BN shop. There's also a weekly reminder, with a hint about how to be prepared for the questions on the BN members' forum too.
This event is for members of British Naturism and other Naturist federations only. If you are not a member, it's easy to become one!

Our first big event takes place this weekend - we're sending all the best to everyone who is going! There's masses going on including live entertainment, swimming pool and sauna and the annual BN squash tournament.
A few rooms are still available though the squash tournament is now closed to new entries.

Become a Volunteer First Aider with Free First Aid Training

Become a Volunteer First Aider with Free First Aid Training

British Naturism needs more First Aiders for regional events! If providing first aid to those who need it is to your liking, why not train to become a volunteer First Aider?
Here’s the deal!  BN will provide you with FREE Emergency First Aid at Work training and you become a First Aid volunteer with BN for three years.
The course will be held on Saturday 29 March 2025 (9.30 for 10.00am to 5.00pm) at the Ashdene Naturist Club, which is located midway between Halifax and Huddersfield with easy access from the M62 and A629.
Participants will be able to make use of the club’s facilities prior to and after the course.  These include covered heated swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, pavilion and bar.  Overnight accommodation is also available for those who wish to stay onsite at their own expense.
The course is being organised by British Naturism in partnership with 4Minutes First Aid Training, who will provide an Emergency First Aid at Work course, with first aid manual and e-certificate, valid for three years.
Priority will be given to applicants from the North West, Yorkshire and East Midlands, and SANER regions as this is where we currently have a shortage of volunteer First Aiders.  Closing date for Priority Bookings: 31 January 2025.  Closing date for all bookings: 28 February 2025.

Naked Yoga – a Great Way to Unwind Undressed!

Last week we relaunched BN’s fab Naked Fitness sessions for 2025 with a new payment structure and an additional class. And now you may be considering whether to sign up for a fitness or yoga class. As someone who’s been taking what I call “nudie yoga” since lock-down, let me encourage you to jump in.
I had taken a (non-naked) yoga class for years but had lost interest in yoga until Covid came along. At that point, BN stepped up to the plate and began offering fitness classes and I thought, “Well, I’m stuck at home. Why not check out the Friday afternoon session?” It was a bit tough at first to wrestle my stiff body into those poses, but eventually I got the hang of it again, and I’ve been doing that class ever since.
Are you an experienced yoga practitioner? If you attend clothed classes, why not try a naked session? Are you a yoga newbie? BN offers several classes, some of which are more appropriate for beginners. There are three yoga sessions a week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
In the same way that other naked activities are relaxing and fun, nudie yoga lets you enjoy the feeling of your body being active - without any restraining clothing. And all in the comfort of your own home!

British Naturism Sunfolk – now open for 2025 bookings!

British Naturism's flagship, state-of-the-art Naturist centre will reopen for the 2025 season on 4 April and booking is now open!
Stay over or visit for the day. We have camping for tents, caravans and motorhomes – and for those seeking more luxury, we offer glamping pods with real beds, bedding and pillows, carpeting and furnishings. 
You can head to the covered swimming pool, new sauna and hot tub, or chill out on the high deck of the lovely pavilion. To make your visit even easier, there’s a shared kitchen, BBQ area and utility room with washing facilities. Our volunteer wardens are onsite to assist you.
For entertainment, there are games, woodland walks, sunbathing lawns, and socialising around the campfire at night. We also offer themed weekends and events.
British Naturism: Sunfolk is a five-acre woodland site owned and operated by British Naturism. It’s five minutes from where the M1 and M25 join, just outside of St Albans. It’s perfect for seasoned Naturists and those looking to explore a clothes-free world for the first time. Everyone is welcome!

At last, after many, many months of work, seriously delayed by poor weather, British Naturism Sunfolk finally opened its doors in 2024 – and to some acclaim!
Tthe new glamping pods which even in the slightly cooler autumn days proved popular, the heaters keeping it nice and cosy in there. The Pavilion with its huge double folding south-facing windows is light and airy and even in inclement weather is a space for relaxing and eating, for conversation or playing board games. The wood burning stove in there makes it nice and toasty too. The grass on the camping lawns has developed well and will be in great condition for tents next season.
Our new hot tub has proved very popular, and we finally got the chemical management satisfactorily adjusted, to provide a clear, clean environment. The new spa layout has brought all the facilities together; the swimming pool now has direct access from the decking area with the hot tub and new sauna all on the same level, with open air showers available.
We have hosted events at Sunfolk, for example Naked Fitness weekends and themed events such as PRIDE, and provided a location for a Canadian TV crew. The site played host both to the Eastern Region for their regional meeting and to the annual in-person Executive Committee meeting at the end of October.
The redevelopment was not cheap but I’m sure that anyone who has managed a visit will confirm that the money has been well-spent. We have a fantastic, modern facility and a new approach to allowing people to try Naturism for the first time with the non-membership facility. People are finding us easily on web searches: many visitors, when asked where they had heard about us reported that they had searched Naturist camping near London and found us. We have had visitors from near and far, from local towns to international visitors, from right across the globe, including Naked Wandering’s Nick and Lins as part of their UK tour. They spent a few days with us and were impressed with the new spa facilities and the openness of the site to non-members, responding to the apparent desire for some people to not belong to a club.
We look forward to a successful and full season this year, and to welcoming back those who have already visited or welcoming you as a new attendee as a day visitor, motorhome/caravaner, camper or glamper.

Naturist Federations Challenge Meta on Discriminatory Moderation Practices

Over the last six months, changes in how Meta, the operators of Facebook, Instagram, and other major social media platforms, handle images of the human body have had alarming negative impacts on some of the most vulnerable minorities in society. 34 National Naturist federations, under the leadership of the International Naturist Federation, have come together to challenge Meta's leadership on this issue through an Open Letter that can be downloaded below.
While Meta has long declined to feature overt nudity on their platforms and their Community Standards officially remain unchanged, the application of these standards has shifted significantly. The statement “may help arrange or encourage sexual activities” is now being broadly used to justify the removal of content that has no connection to sexual activity. This includes links to mainstream news articles and posts from major charity organisations. Alarmingly, these removals appear to be based on the identity of the poster rather than the actual content being shared.
In January 2023, the Meta Oversight Board, a panel of expert consultants tasked with holding Meta’s executive team to account, observed:
“Meta’s internal guidance to moderators on when to remove content under the Sexual Solicitation policy is far broader than the stated rationale for the policy, or the publicly available guidance. This creates confusion for users and moderators and, as Meta has recognized, leads to content being wrongly removed.”
Rather than resolving these issues, Meta’s recent shifts have amplified the problem. The Oversight Board also highlighted the disproportionate impact of these policies:
“Here, the Board finds that Meta’s policies on adult nudity result in greater barriers to expression for women, trans, and gender non-binary people on its platforms. For example, they have a severe impact in contexts where women may traditionally go bare-chested, and people who identify as LGBTQI+ can be disproportionately affected.”
A Call for Equality and Respect
British Naturism, the International Naturist Federation, and Naturist federations worldwide have a vested interest in these matters. Mark Bass, President of British Naturism and a signatory on the open letter to Meta, stated:
“Naturism is grounded in respect, and we entirely support the aim of providing a platform that is safe and respectful across different cultures. However, those principles must be applied across all of society. For Naturists, nudity is a central aspect of the philosophical belief that defines our identity. Furthermore, the disproportionate impact of Meta’s policies on women and the LGBTQ+ community is alarming and shows that this is not a niche concern. This is not simply about sharing fun pictures; this is about equality and protecting the human rights of all.”
Underling the scale of this problem, the Secretary of the International Human Rights Foundation has added their signature to the open letter.
Real-World Consequences
Meta’s current approach to moderation reinforces harmful narratives around body shaming, suggesting that only “idealised” bodies are acceptable. This contributes to widespread mental health challenges, particularly among young people. In the UK, suicide remains the leading cause of death in men aged 20-34 (Office of National Statistics), while 5.6% of women aged 17-19 suffer from Body Dysmorphic Disorder (NHS). Social media providers, wielding enormous influence, must take responsibility for their role in perpetuating these issues.
Awaiting Meta’s Response
The open letter from Naturist federations has been sent to Meta’s top leadership, calling for immediate action to address these inequities. As the world watches, the Naturist community and its allies eagerly await Meta’s response.

It's almost time for the BN news team to hang up their typewriters for the festive season - but don’t forget all the wonderful things you can get from the UK's National Naturist Organisation - even over Christmas and the New Year. There is plenty going on within our community including a lot of free content.
Join in our online events - our 'community' events are free and open to members only and include chat-based gatherings and a weekly quiz. 'Naked Fitness' is open to all and has undergone a revamp but still includes all the fitness - physical and mental - classes  you've all come to love.

Farewell, The Forum Live!

Farewell, The Forum Live!

The Forum Live, BN's own online 'chat show' was created by Mark Walsh during the early days of lockdown, in March 2020. Conscious that our live, in-person events were likely to be jeopardised by the pandemic, we sought ways to keep our members engaged with British Naturism and delivered a host of online activities, including a range of fitness classes and conversation-based gatherings.
It was an instant hit, leading to an increase in members, including a large number of overseas Naturists who sought something to do in those unusual days when going out was almost banned, globally.
The Forum Live was immediately popular, in terms of the audience numbers and among the varied pool of guests who agreed to be part of it. Over the years we've talked to artists, writers, photographers, documentary makers, journalists, academics, magazine editors, researchers, musicians, and actors from outside the Naturist world who had a nude-related story to tell. We've learned much about holidays from owners and managers of Naturist resorts and discovered about the work and challenges of people from overseas Naturist federations, including the INF. We've hosted sessions in which various organisations including the National Trust, British Heart Foundation and Dynamic Dunescapes have brought us up to date with their activities. We've regularly turned the spotlight on BN and chatted to individuals and teams about campaigns, special events, announcements and launches of new initiatives. Once a month, Mark Bass has hosted a debate session, allowing guests to interact more and to share their views on hot topics of the day. Each summer - when live events were able to take place again - we have 'broadcast' live from Nudefest and on one occasion, the Forum Live saw host and guests actually live from Gran Canaria.
It was with a slightly heavy heart therefore on Monday this week that I announced the end of the Forum Live. Now that life is back to normal, audience numbers have dwindled and after almost five years, I'm ready to take a break too. It's been great fun and also a great way to communicate with our membership as well as provide a way for outsiders to engage with us.
We don't rule out one off sessions or debates when the need arises, so keep an eye on this website and in the weekly ezine (subscribe here, if you don't already) for announcements.
Thanks to all the fantastic guests who gave up an hour on a Monday night to talk to us and particularly to everyone who was part of the audience and who made the whole thing work so well.

Stand Together to Stop Social Media Body Shaming

Over recent months, social media platforms have dramatically shifted their stance on the portrayal and discussion of the human body.  Depictions of bodies in even the healthiest and most natural contexts are being removed.  By doing so, these platforms - arguably the most powerful influencers of our time - send a harmful and clear message: that our bodies are unacceptable and something to be ashamed of.
The damage caused by this message cannot be overstated. In a society already grappling with widespread mental health challenges, this narrative reinforces feelings of inadequacy and shame. It risks fostering a generation that believes their worth is tied to hiding their natural selves. This is unacceptable.
These changes also strip us of our fundamental freedom of expression, the ability to share our beliefs, celebrate our diversity, and express our individuality.  The rich diversity found across human society is our greatest strength.  Restricting the freedom to showcase diverse perspectives, ways of living, and bodies undermines the essence of what makes us human.
The International Naturist Federation (INF) has written a powerful piece challenging these changes. We urge everyone to read it and join the conversation. You can find more details here.
Now, more than ever, we must stand together to Stop Body Shaming and work towards a future built on Respect and acceptance. Let’s celebrate our humanity and diversity, not hide it.
