Fun in the Atlantic surf and skinny dipping in local lakes were part of the Portuguese experience for Paula and Peter Starling In previous years we had visited Portugal’s southernmost region, the Algarve, well known for its Mediterranean beaches. This is a very popular tourist destination and its central coast between Lagos and Faro is now lined with villas, hotels, bars and restaurants. On this latest trip we decided we would escape the crowds and stay in the Alentejo region, a far less de

In the Winter issue of BN Magazine readers will discover a large feature on European spas, where the default - unlike in this country - is nudity. Hurrah! Here is an extract, written by regular spa-ers, and BN members, Derek and Karen. Our planned two-week holiday at Grottamiranda in Puglia, Italy was postponed from 2020 to 2021, and then again to 2022 owing to COVID restrictions, but, finally, we were able to visit this June. Having retired early at Easter, we decided that rather than flyi

Our penultimate BN Members' group holiday of 2018 gets underway at the end of this month. If you are itching to get away, now that the UK weather has returned to what might be considered ‘normal’, the good news is that there are still places available. Almost twenty guests have already booked their rooms at Rhodes’ finest dedicated nude resort, the Naturist Angel Hotel. This will be the second time we’ve reserved it for one of our popular group holidays and once again guests will able to s

One sunny August day we set off to the historic market town of Higham Ferrers, situated in the Nene Valley in East Northamptonshire. Our reason for travelling was to stay at No 1 Hind Stile, a new B&B for Naturists. It is co-owned and hosted by BN Member William and his partner Simon. On arrival, William greeted us and welcomed us to his boutique accommodation, which he describes as an, ‘eclectic collection of colour and pattern’. It’s amazing and feels as if you are stepping into rooms

Ulika camping was the only Naturist site that we had not visited in mainland Croatia. There are still two on the islands that are on our list but they are quite a distance from us and logistically difficult for a short trip so they will have to wait a while longer, say BN members Ryan and Leela Camping Ulika is run by Istra Camping and lies 8 km north of Porec on the Istrian coast. The camp is well laid out and well taken care of with nice and spacious marked pitches as well as a free-for-a

All around as we drive are wind turbines and undulating fields interspersed with tiny quiet villages, and hardly any traffic on the road at all. This particular Sunday morning we had taken the 35-minute Channel crossing via Eurotunnel and were heading to Domaine De La Gagere near Luzy. A beautiful sunny day greeted us across the Channel and music playing favourite songs in the car helped us along the 7.5 hour journey. Suddenly, as if from nowhere, near the Roman village of Autun the landscape c

BN’s International Officer, Edwin Kilby talks about the story behind his alter-ego…originally published in July 2019 I first heard about Naturism in the Greek Islands sometime in the early 1980s. It was completely beyond my experience at the time, but my interest was piqued – both in the Islands and in Naturism. A while afterwards I joined a Naturist club in Bricket Wood. It was some years before I had a chance to try naturism in Greece. During a memorable holiday on Skopelos with

Naturist Kevin Wheeler shares his experiences about making a stone 'mas' habitable on his own Finca in Spain. There is nothing better than a hot day on a British naturist beach. The problem is that there are just not enough hot days in the typical British summer. I am privileged to live on a farm with a private sheltered garden in beautiful part of Devon, but in forty years of Naturism I have seen no great improvement in the weather. So I am writing this in Spain. Four years ago I dec

Lavinia is a new Naturist resort only 20 minutes inland from Alicante airport, in the South East of Spain. It is set on a terraced hillside with gardens, two swimming pools, and four spacious and well-appointed villas for holiday rental. Accommodating a maximum of 16 guests, it is an ideal location for an escape, and would make a great place for a group to holiday together. The site is well laid out and there is a feeling of space. One of the swimming pools was right outside the door of ou

About an hour the airport we arrived in Puget-Theniers, a small, traditional French village with cafés and narrow streets. Shortly after, a narrow side road took us past children playing sport at their local school and parked lorries bearing log piles up a winding hill to the gates of our destination. The site is surprisingly spacious with areas that you could easily miss unless you make a point of seeing them. Owner Michel, who was pleased to speak French with us, took us around the sit

As we know, life is sometimes a compromise and to enjoy a holiday and explore another country, it’s not always possible to plan to stay at only naturist venues, as desirable as it may be, for the entire holiday. This was the case when we spent a very enjoyable four weeks in Canada in the late summer, early autumn last year. We arrived in Toronto and after spending a few days with our family who live in Burlington, a delightful area on Lake Ontario, we collected our RV (Recreational Vehicle
