    The Beach

Morfa Dyffryn is one of the best naturist beaches in the UK. It's situated on the Welsh coast between Barmouth and Harlech. It is a two hour drive from Chester and the West Midlands, and a three hour drive from Manchester, Liverpool or Gloucester. If you are driving then make sure you have a full tank because towns such as Barmouth and many of the villages do not have garages for refuelling. (The only garage in the vicinity is in Dyffryn Ardudwy which is just north of the turn off the A496.)

The Barmouth Bay beach stretches from Barmouth in the south to Morfa Dyffryn in the north and is about six miles long. Morfa Dyffryn's naturist section is situated in the northern quarter of this beach and is about 1km long. Dyffryn is a beautiful beach, with fine golden sand and clear water. On fine sunny Sundays in the summer up to 500 naturists can be found using it. The main naturist beach is used by singles, couples and families. One of the beauties of Dyffryn is that is it large enough to accommodate all sections of the naturist community. There are no facilities on the beach but there is a general store at the Dyffryn Seaside Estate.

    Directions

Directions by car: Access to the beach is via a turning off the A496 which is the main Barmouth to Harlech road. If driving northwards from Barmouth almost exactly four miles along the A496 you will come across the tiny village of Tal-y-bont. Drive through Tal-y-bont and over a narrow bridge. Just after this bridge there is a small chapel and a turning to the left which is sign posted 'Traeth Beach'. Turn left at this junction, (Ffordd Benar lane), signposted to 'Ystad Morfa Dyffryn Seaside Estate'. A small church at the junction is a useful landmark. (From the opposite direction you would drive through Dyffryn Ardudwy before coming to the same junction and making a right turn. The road is very narrow with passing places. Towards the end of the road is a toilet block on the left and then free parking along the side of the road. Access to the naturist beach is through the dunes and then upon reaching the beach turn right (north) and walk approximately 1 mile on soft sand.

There is parking closer to the beach if you are willing to pay. (On busy days there will be a parking attendant, but on other days parking may be free.) Just before the toilet block there is a turning on the right which heads into the Dyffryn Seaside Estate. Follow this road and turn left at the end. Drive right up to the dunes and park. The pin on the map marks this parking area. Walk through the dunes and turn right at the beach, heading north.

SatNav: LL44 2RX will take you to Ffordd Benar.

Access to the beach and Naturism

The naturist beach is clearly marked with large blue signs (unless they have been washed away by a storm). The signs warn that those who are nude outside the designated area will be prosecuted, but it is believed that the intent is to intimidate naturists and that there are no special bye-laws or other laws other than the normal national laws. The beach to the south of the naturist area is busy so it is likely that any nudity in this area will lead to complaints and consequent hassle. The beach to the north of the naturist area is generally quieter so if you wish to stray naked outside the naturist area you would do so at your own risk.
