Mind, Body and Naturism Weekend at Scottish Outdoor Club
18 – 20 August 2017
From the time of the early sun clubs, naturism has been associated with a desire to improve the health of both mind and body through connecting with the natural world. With it’s stunningly located naturist club at Inchmurrin, an island on Loch Lomond, the Scottish Outdoor Club has always been part of this tradition.
In August, we will be rekindling this link by offering Soul Moves, a residential Mind and Body weekend which is open to members and non-members alike.
Delivered by local tai chi teacher and artist Teena Gould, Soul Moves will consist of 4 workshop sessions over the weekend. Participants will be guided through a series of exercises including simple sitting and meditation; self-massage; tai chi movements including opening and flexing joints and working in pairs on physical connection; the opportunity in groups or pairs to listen to ourselves and others with an open mind and compassion.
At other times you can use all the club’s facilities including lounge, self-catering kitchen, sauna, hot showers, miniten court, table tennis or perhaps sunbathe or swim in the loch. There will be time for self-guided practice or (clothed) exploration of the island which boasts wonderful panoramas, a network of paths, shingle strands, woodland, a ruined castle and licensed hotel.
Accommodation will be in the club house, chalets or camping pitches. Price per person, including accommodation, workshops plus a meal and social on the Saturday night will be £39 (or £27 camping based on 2 adults sharing). Accompanied children are welcome. Under 5s are free and children aged 5-15 just £5.
The ferry will leave Balmaha on the Eastern shore of Loch Lomond at 7pm on the Friday evening, returning at 6pm on the Sunday. Return fare £10 / £4.50 child.
For more information, visit the club website or contact the secretary.

Swims now take place in Sheffield at King Edward's Swimming Pool, Sheffield.
The pool address is :-
King Edward's Swimming Pool,
Clarkehouse Road
Sheffield
S10 2LB
For details of the pool please see their website ( http://kesp.co.uk/ ) It is an unusual pool, being 30m long with two shallow ends, somewhat deeper in the middle but still easy to stand. Our impression is that the pool is warmer than Chapeltown.
There is plenty of street parking, free on Sundays. Outside of school hours we can also park for free in the school staff car park adjacent . There are two entrances: I'd suggest the Glossop Road entrance is the one to use, but there is also an entrance on Newbould Lane which means a longer walk.
For those arriving by public transport the pool is very close to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and is served by the 120 bus, the closest tram stop is the University of Sheffield.
If you are hungry/thirsty there is a Wetherspoon's ( The Francis Newton ) virtually opposite.
For location see Google Maps - the pool is near the centre:-
https://goo.gl/maps/G5FibCReNcB2
The swims will normally take place on the third Sunday of the month, from 1530 to 1715 ( all persons to leave by 1725 ). Cost will be £5 ( BN/INF, cards to be shown ) or £7 otherwise. The pool does not have lockers and swimmers are advised to bring a bag for their clothes/possessions and to take them poolside as the secure cloakroom will not be staffed.
