A Solstice Beach Day on Monknash Beach in the Vale of Glamorgan in SE Wales. All welcome ?

Timings governed by the tides, so the plan is:

  • Gather in farmer's field car park from noon onwards - see directions below.
  • Head off to the beach by 12.30
  • Head back, as moods and tides take us, but probably by 7.30pm
  • Finish off with real ales, ciders and food at the Plough & Harrow - see review here

If you arrive later, just park up , pop £3 in the honesty box . Walk down the lane until the end and footpath on your left  through Blaen y cwm Nature Reserve and out onto the beach. More details of the beach here. We may have got a flag sorted, but look for a motley crew at the far end of the beach just before the rock slabs . It's a 30 minutes walk and reasonable footwear is good.

Bring some food, nosh, water, towel, sunscreen but no cozzie ?

Good weather has been ordered and delivery is expected on time ?. You can track progress and moods here.

Directions:

  • Set Satnavs to stun - but more usefully to CF71 7QQ
  • Together with brown signs for Plough & Harrow that bit should be straightforward
  • follow lane down from the pub, until you reach a sharp bend to right .
  • the farmers field car park  on the left hand side of this corner  - opposite New Mill Farm Stables to your right
  • Google Maps link is here
