Where & When.
Every Thursday, 7:00-8:30pm.
Once inside Arcadia, walk straight past reception (which is on the left), until you get to the blue wall with the white lettering MANCHESTER ALIVE WITH SPORT. That’s where the group will meet you and take payment; don’t pay at reception. Numbers vary, usually between 15 and 25, and the maximum allowed is 30.
Please do RSVP here to indicate your attendance, and ensure you arrive between 6:45pm and 7pm. The last admission time is 7:15pm.
The swim is advertised on other websites and social groups as well as here, so don’t worry if there are low numbers attending from this listing.
Cost & Facilities.
The cost is £5, paid contactless. We accept all major credit / debit cards plus Apple Pay and Google Pay. We no longer accept cash payments. You’ll also need a (refundable) £1 coin or trolley token for the lockers.
The pool we use has its own changing cubicles, lockers, showers and toilets, and includes facilities for wheelchair users. Full length blinds protect our privacy from the neighbouring pool for the duration of our swim.
Use of the sauna and steam room is not included in the price of admission, and must be booked separately in advance; contact Arcadia directly for more details. As these are shared facilities, you'll need to bring shorts if you plan to use them.
Getting Here.
Arcadia has free parking at the back, and cycle racks at the front. There are also local bus stops at the front; and Levenshulme train station is just a three minute walk away with frequent, direct services to Manchester Piccadilly.
Atmosphere & Conduct.
The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed; in the pool you can swim or chat as much or as little as you like. There's an optional visit to the nearby pub The Blue Bell for a pint afterwards.
Established in 2006 by gay men for gay men, our swim now welcomes all men and is one of the UK’s few remaining male only naturist swim events. As well as many regulars from other parts of the UK, we've also welcomed swimmers from many different countries all over the world.
