Derbyshire Live news website has a feature on the construction of a brand new sports village on the site of the old Moorways Stadium in Derby. A major feature of the village will be a state of the art pool complex with “WOW Wave Ball”, no less than two four-storey flumes and a 50 metre pool that can be divided into different sections. The local Council are certainly on the ball and Councillor Robin Wood seemed on the crest of a wave when he told the “Derbyshire Live” reporter that the new c

Possibly one of the worst-hit sectors during the pandemic is the travel industry. However, having all been cooped up for so long we're confident that we'll all be making our way to the sun as soon as we can - practical issues and restrictions willing! When we do, we'll all be supporting those people around the world who rely on Naturist holidaymakers for their livelihood. We really want to help them too and have many ways in which they can promote themselves using the British Naturism netwo

From 2017 An article in the UK’s version of the Huffington Post piqued our interest. It said, ‘We may open up conversations with our daughters about how they feel about their bodies, but when was the last time you did this with your son? The number of men admitted to hospital with eating disorders has risen by 70% in the past six years and male sufferers – and the people around them – may not recognise their symptoms due to persistent gender stereotypes. According to a survey 55% of 18-year

Malta is an archipelago situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily and Libya and to the east of Tunisia consisting of three habitable islands – Malta (the main island), Comino and Gozo. BN member and Malta resident Ozir sent us this report on the possibilities for Naturism on the island. As a Mediterranean island, it is the sun and the sea that are the main attractions. It is pleasant to swim practically all year round. However, despite this and the great hospitality af

Eleven minutes to four o’clock in the morning, 20 March. I’m naked in the garden. It’s the exact spring equinox winter moment, the turning of winter into spring, equal sunlight and dark across the Earth. Around 4 Celsius: a handshake of cold for a few minutes, chill air on my skin, the tang of dew under my toes and wrapped in the night. Still as ever was, no sound from animal, breeze or vehicle. Would that there be an owl, a deer or fox barking. And then a robin sang, a single calm flurry of s

Regular readers will know of the ground-breaking work done by Dr Keon West of Goldsmith's University and how his research showed that being naked boosts self-esteem, happiness and life satisfaction. Last summer, with administrative assistance and some funding from British Naturism, Dr Keon hosted part II of the work and tested whether similar results could be achieved with people who weren't attending a specific nude event or gathering. The results have now been peer reviewed and publi

The Irish Tourist Board have been doing a grand job promoting nearly 2,000 miles of rugged Atlantic coastline of County Cork. Dubbed “The Wild Atlantic Way” (WAW), it's one of the longest defined coastal routes in the world and it brings in a lot of money from tourism. Along the route are a number of Naturist beaches that Stephen Bolton, from the Irish Naturist Association, believes it’s under exploited. For some time now, Stephen has been trying to get the beaches officially recognise

Regular readers will know that Kat Harbourne and Jenny Eells from BBC Radio Sheffield are the women behind 'The Naked Podcast', a series of interviews, in which they strip off to interview an also naked guest. The show is now back for its third series and we received the following article from Jenny. Three people. All naked. Huddled closely round two microphones. This may sound like some COVID-19 era nightmare but as The Naked Podcast returns for its third series, we give you an assurance t

Never mind the Invisible Man, Trina Merry, a New York body-painter can make anything disappear. Houdini did it, David Copperfield (the magician) did it but none of them did it as beautifully as Trina. It doesn't take a breach of the magician's code to reveal the trick because there isn't one. It’s all about skill and art and the right angle and the results are truly stunning. Take a naked model, position them up against a work of art, get the colours just right and and apply them to the skin u

A nice one from 2019... ‘I've always been one to strip off and jump into water, and have found myself more comfortable with the less I had to wear. Last Summer, more than any before, I found myself on a mission to swim naked in the sea as often, and for as long as into the year, as possible,’ says Ged Deignan It really became a thing with the onset of the long, glorious, hot summer we experienced. I had been able to swim for most of the summer. A friend had joined me on ho

A super article by Sheryn, from May 2018, but the truth is timeless... Talking to a gym buddy the other week, she asked me where I go to swim and I told her it was at the Naturist Club in our village. She looked at me with amused interest whilst inadvertently covering her clothed chest with both arms in a protective way. This is often the reaction I see when telling another woman. It is as though she believes the very mention of naked swimming makes her clothes see-through and indi

For those of you who are losing the ability to remember what day it is...it's Friday. And for those of you who are losing their desire to get dressed at all during these crazy times, there's loads of activities to keep you from being bored... Friday - there's naked yoga this afternoon and a member-led quiz* tonight before the Naked Pub opens its doors again Saturday - is World Naked Gardening Day, so take the opportunity to get those essential jobs done wearing sturdy boots, thorn

Another week passes - a pretty amazing week for British Naturism with another huge increase in new members, ex-members returning and guests from overseas joining our online events. Hosts of all those events have been working naked and none more so than Pam who added to her national newspaper fame last week with radio interviews and yesterday, a TV show. #WorkNakedWednesday has also gone global with people around the world stripping off as they toil. We were delighted to see this t

Discovering Naturism is often a turning point in people's lives. New Naturists tell us all the time how great they feel, how they now can't imagine life without the opportunity to be happily naked and be part of such a strong, welcoming, non-judgemental community. It's all good...but when it comes to talking about it to others we suddenly get shy and hesitant, worrying about what people will say and what they will think of us. It's not surprising. Decades of social conditioning has made mo

From February 2017 - but, of course, timeless! Further research has since been carried out. We look forward to bringing you the results! It's what we've been saying for years! Brilliant new research shows that Naturism boosts self-esteem, happiness and life satisfaction. Here's an article from the Daily Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-4156788/Being-naked-makes-happier-bodies.html ...and the research paper itself http://link.springer.com/article/10.1

Here's an article from the USA ('hang out' probably gave it away already) and it's one of the best we've seen. No oh-so-amusing comments about nudity, no playing to the gallery for laughs from readers, no wide-eyed sensationalism about crazy people going without clothes - just a thoroughly sensible piece from someone who clearly thinks like us. Naked at home? Of course! What's the big deal? Seven reasons why you deserve to hang out naked Look out for news coming soon from British Natur

I always thought that France was one of the better pro-naturist countries. However, the French Naturist Federation has found itself citing BN and British Laws and attitudes to public nudity as being something to admire and they have raised concerns about legal developments in France. They have started a petition and called for crowdfunding to help with their campaign. In February last year, a 22 year old man was sentenced to a year in prison for sunbathing naked on a beach in Carnac, in Jun

Are you ever at loss wondering to what to do with your lockdown time? Well when Greenpoint resident Amanda Geller was laid off from her job as the wine steward (or “sommelier”) in a Manhattan restaurant, she quickly realised it was an ideal opportunity to spend more time with her lifelong passion - painting. But not just still life in and around the home. No, Amanda, whose most recent art course was figure drawing, asked her friends to send her naked pictures of themselves which she then

Here's an article from the Summer of 2018, but just as relevant now. Keep an eye out for our celebration of garden nakedness, to be announced soon! Despite the news we announced a few weeks ago confirming that Naturism is perfectly lawful, a number of high-profile publications have come out during the heatwave with nonsense about nude sunbathing. It's misleading, irresponsible and - worst of all - based on a social media post from a year ago. Obviously a slow news week. BN

This article appeared on the BN website in April 2019. We didn't imagine that we'd add 'deathly viruses' to that list in paragraph 4. Tomorrow night's online discussion will be with Naked Beach's Dr Keon West. Incidentally, it appears that Naked Beach is still available to watch on All4... We’re enjoying Channel 4’s Naked Beach programme. We recommend it if you’ve not seen it, especially if you are not (yet) part of the Naturist community in the UK. There are no spo

So it's official! Today is #WorkNakedWednesday.... OK - so we made it up! But what an opportunity to give Naturism a try in the comfort of your new workplace - at home! It's perfectly legal to enjoy the sun in your garden too. Give your birthday suit an airing We've all got a body under our clothes - it's nothing to be ashamed of. You're probably not bothering to get fully dressed, if at all, these days, so if you've never tried it, take that extra step today.

While us well behaved British Naturists are studiously obeying the Corona “lockdown”, others around the globe seem to have a perilously relaxed attitude. President Trump for instance is of the “Do as I say not as I do” school of thought and refuses to wear a facemask due, he says, to having a “beautiful, beautiful resolute desk” in the Whitehouse. According to a report on the Expats Cz website, our fellow naturists in the Czech Republic seem to have similar aversion with or without the b

With the world in turmoil and facing serious issues, it's a good time for us to realise that the fear that some of us have about telling people what we do on a hot day seem irrelevant by comparison. Anecdotally, we hear that many home-workers (that's pretty much everyone right now) are spending time without bothering to get dressed each day, and, we hope, discovering that far from being shameful, eccentric, ridiculous, embarrassing or dangerous, it's actually rather nice. Here's some tips from 2

It might have turned a bit wintry, but the sun's bound to come back...here's an article from 2017 which is just as valid today - especially useful to know when you're stuck at home and wondering if you really are free to dress as you choose... In short - yes! During the heatwave, we’ve seen this question posed across the media and it’s a bit annoying to Naturists that there is even a suggestion that it might not be. The Sexual Offences Act 2003 was carefully worded to exclude Natu

Nick Mayhew-Smith delved deep into the use of nudity for ancient ritual for his latest book, The Naked Hermit, which is featured on BBC One this spring Laying bare my soul on the summit of a sacred mountain one glorious summer evening has to rank among the most memorable and moving of all my many naked adventures in the great outdoors. I sat in a state of primal innocence on the warm boulders of an Iron Age hillfort and watched the sun slowly sank into the haze of the Irish Sea. It felt lik
